Some other brands claim some of their ingredients are fermented. Is that also true for Stratum products?
Fermentation means also production of life lactic acid bacteria which is good in one way, but in the other way, if we follow the guidelines of SCCS legislation we should proof that our formula contains less than 1000 cfu’s per gram in the product.
What I can understand is that their fermentation process allows the formation of fibers which in term can be beneficial for the microbiota.
In our case we add directly those « well studies » fibers which on the skin by the microbiota can be further digested (fermented) into smaller units as food for the microbiota.
One thing that I’m also asking myself is the for the fermentation they should need water, salt, carbohydrates and energy (25°C) to turn this into lactic acid and CO2. The CO2 escapes and lactic acids is left. As long as the fermentation is on the go at 25° C. the product becomes more and more acid and could become too acid and becomes an aggressive peeling. This is how alpha hydroxy acids are made by fermentation of milk and fruit alpha hydroxy acids from fruits. This way the very acidic citric acid is made!
So as far as I’m concerned, their explanation is incomplete, and as I read it, it destroys the microbiome instead of helping it except of course if they do not explain everything in their presentation.
