Certain brands claim their products are based on prebiotics and probiotics. Is that really possible?

I checked how they use probiotics as a live microorganism in a jar.
The answer is that they keep the living organism dormant as powder, so to speak. And this one then comes through alive through moisture. Ampoule.

I took a quick look at the website of e.g. ESSE and see that a multitude of serums are listed there, some prebiotic some probiotic.
Looking at the ingredients list, I see that there is no water in their serums, so it consists mainly of oils and butters.

In the ingredients listing of their PROBIOTIC SERUM, it also says that they use " LACTOBACILLUS " as PROTIOTICA.  The story of grinding it into powder does not seem very scientific to me.
The bacterium produces lactic acid through fermentation from meat and vegetables.  However, I can find that the lactobacillus bacteria is freeze-dried and that it does not lose its activity in the process.  Presumably this is what they mean by powder because when all the water is out you only get dry matter.

The fact that there is no water in this serum indicates that they probably should not issue a challenge test.  A challenge test indicates that the CFU per gram is below the legally specified 2000.  (CFU = colony forming units).

The absence of water also means that no preservative is needed, only an antioxidant for the stability of the oils and butters (tocopherol).

My honest opinion: I think it's pretty clever. However, I am always left wondering why only lactobacillus is used, knowing that the entire microflora consists of at least 1000 different species.  How is the balance maintained here, taking into account the constant change in the microbiome every second?

Conclusion: The use of our prebiotic scaffold is definitely important to maintain and achieve the intended balance of the microbiome.  I also see with their probiotic serum that the serum needs to be tapered:
-    FIRST WEEK EVERY EVENING
-    SECOND WEEK EVERY 2 DAYS
-    Then once or twice a week.
I have a suspicion that continued frequent administration unbalances one's own microbiome with possibly less favourable consequences afterwards.
